Volunteer
Why Volunteer? Are you a Long Islander who counts down the days until summer? Is the beach your second home, or just a fun place to visit some weekends? Whatever the case, Long Island is your home. CSLI is an all volunteer organization and we could use your help to continue our efforts in preserving our local beaches and ecology. Join us in our mission to keep our Island home to some of the most beautiful and top-rated beaches in the United States, restoring populations of vital marine life, and educating the public.

Ways To Get Involved
Marine Education:
If you're interested in being a part-time marine educator, let us know as these are paid positions. If you're not the teaching type - come help out at a field trip to be an extra set of eyes, help set up and break down, and take photos!
Timeframe: April - October. Per diem at the moment and will be in the morning on a weekday. Come summertime there will also be some weekend requirements.

Beach Cleanups:
Coming out to clean the beach is a great way to help keep Long Island's beaches clean and safe for generations to come. It is also equally as beneficial to us to have our volunteers help at the table and tent. Volunteers can help sign people in, provide materials and information to participants, and separate recyclables from non-recyclables.
Timeframe: Weekends / Morning time.
See our event schedule for cleanup dates.

Shellfish Restoration:
Plant oysters, collect relevant data, help maintain their tanks, and finally help release them into the harbor! Look for Shellfish Restoration Program Day on our events schedule here.

Outreach:
We are always looking for tabling events where we can help recruit more volunteers and spread the word about our organization. This is a great volunteer opportunity if you're interested in talking to people, learning more about Coastal Steward, and have ideas of how to reach a greater audience.
Timeframe: Sporadic. A week day and/or weekend day every so often.

Marketing or Administrative:
Love the environment but not so much an outdoorsy type? As a growing non-profit organization, marketing ourselves and our vision is incredibly important and invaluable. We are looking for people to offer some hours each week to help post on our social media, write a newsletter, and/or update our website.
Other helpful areas are to coordinate events, organize data, research and more.
If any of the above interests you, please let us know. We can never have enough volunteers!
